This cute Eastern Bluebird is soft and fuzzy -- and it sings! It is the state bird of Missouri and New York. Eastern Bluebirds are found in forest edges and open country east of the Rocky Mountains, and make their nests in natural tree holes. They feed on insects, berries and fruits. In many areas, bluebirds almost disappeared due to habitat loss and competition from non-native birds for nesting sites. Programs providing human-made bird boxes have helped some bluebird populations recover. The lifelike design and detailing is the result of input from the National Audubon Society.
